Akino West

Executive Chef

Chef Akino West is a South Florida native and Executive Chef known for blending soul food traditions with refined culinary technique. A graduate of Johnson & Wales University in Miami, he honed his skills at the James Beard Award winning Michael’s Genuine Food & Drink before staging at NOMA in Copenhagen, Denmark, recognized with three Michelin stars and named the number one restaurant in the world in 2014.

Back in Miami, West served as Sous Chef at the Pérez Art Museum and worked alongside James Beard nominee Niven Patel. In 2020, he and his wife launched The Copper Door B&B and Rosie’s, an all day brunch concept that earned a Bib Gourmand from the MICHELIN Guide USA in 2023. West is a recipient of the Star Chefs Award & Community Award in 2021 and was named a James Beard Foundation Emerging Chef Semi-Finalist in 2023.
